My personal view :
Dont think it is the right way to interpret the visual gap!!! We tend to graviate towards your interpretation mainly becoz most of the recent Gaps have been such as described by you.
But Saint does not prescribe it this way!!!
Just have a look at the recent charts posted by Saint after making minor adjustments in the rule!!! Look at the short taken on 3rd July, to me it is clear that the short was taken because there was a visual gap!!! The gap as you will notice was not beyond the previous days range, in fact in this particular case the price was within the 3 PM bar but there was a BIG visual gap between previous days close and next days Open!!
Even in the charts posted earlier buy Saint I remember noticing the Gaps were as described by Saint : Visual!!! Only the rules for trading the Gaps have been amended not the Gaps!!! :)
Praying that my view is correct!!! :D
Thanks RKK for clearing this doubt which kept nagging me all along, nicely explained.

Thanks again,

ST

Dear Saint -

Was Itching to get your advise about yesterdays trade. I missed on the short and was about 60-70 points down.

After which , at that point in time , I realized the miss (and the mistake) and the chart was indeed screaming SHORT SHORT - what should be done?

a. Remain Long, Wait for the new development to happen , new pattern, newpivot formations and thus keeping the orig SAR (3092 ) or
b. No point waiting , cut longs but do not Short and wait for orig SAR based on new development , new pivot (This will make me go out of flow)
c. Cut longs , go Short keeping he new SAR for long..

Let me also share that I cut my longs at the orig SAR , but did not o short as the Stop loss was way too off now, I will wait to initiate a new position. And by doing this I am out of the flow as of now. :(

This may sound amusing, But had you missed out on the short what would have been your take.;)

Thanks for all your advise.
May god bless.

Yup Saint, Understood now.

One question, on gap days what will be the filter for Aban and HDIL ?
Im thinking, 25 and 4 respectively.

Also, a little word on Aban adds? I think Saint mentioned 5 adds, but he had some specific places where he added, is it at every WRB ? If some senior could help out it would be appreciated.

I hope you can see them both........I call these 2 groups by these 2 names. However much you joke about pure and impure, and aggressively pure and purely aggressive, and non-impure(hahaha Amit)..........see them both, know them both, trade only one.

Saint,
Extremely relieved after reading your posts....how lucky we are. Unfortunately, my PC crashed day before...so could not post anything, nor backtest the new method.

However, even before re-backtesting.....I have a very basic doubt. Till now, I have been seeing and trading the 'earstwhile aggr' pivots (sorry for mentioning that name again, even when u had said that we wont be talking abt it henceforth).

My problem is....I find them tradeable, and since that method has been ingrained so deeply in me..that I find it very difficult and uneasy to ignore them. They keep popping out and haunting me all the time.

So...where do those aggressive traders stand in the current method? Do we shun the Aggressive strategy(and their pivots) and get really Pure...or proceed as if nothing new has happened (visual gap rules being the exception).

Even a very brief answer will remove a lot of my doubts. Pl also tell me how are you treating the issue since you too were folowing the aggressive method.

Thanks a lot,

Rakesh
ps: Extremely sorry for bringing up the topic (Pure Vs Aggressive) again. An answer now will surely avoid a lot of confusions in the days to come.

It seems what you people call the 'Visual Gap' is what i call the Lap-up.

Btw, what is Saint's rule for the Visual Gap? (Don't know where to look for it There are so many posts in this thread)
