Finally got it. Yes, as said before - if you enable Auto-Backfill then ChartsData will process few minutes to backfill scripts on your next start, so be cautious in answering NO while exiting - only if you dont want to backfill.

As a problem u can still track/crack the same. After some experiments/files check, I deleted the autobk file from chartsdata folder as I suspected that it might be triggering auto backfill. and it worked for me..Next time I did not accept the pop-up option of auto-back fill and touchwood, it is working now..

It seems you are interested in some stupid repeated questions only,you did not attend my previous two queries first one is on 25/05/09 and second one is on 02/06/09.All the said problems are existing in new version also.

Hi Dude,
Somehow I managed to live with your CharData,but as I already told it is not acceptable to block clipboard functionality when we use your software.Because it is the basic service everybody using it frequently everyday.Think like this if one application needs to block keyboard ,another one is blocking mouse some other application is heavily dependent on cpu so we could not use cpu for any other application then how one could use his system effectively.Most of the person use single system for trading as well as other works.It would be better if you find out some alternative method for this.

Another problem is volume updation is not correct as per my expereience there is around 12% difference between your application volume updation and real volume information.I noticed this difference several days data at the end of trading.I couldn't know what is the difficulty in computing volume because we are getting volume information also from odin then simply substract current volume from previous volume for every updation and finalise the minute bars volume in the same way (substract current volume when the bar is going to end with the value of previous bars total).

Another difficulty I know it is not your software's problem but when I try to draw trendline or fibonacci line if your software updates metastock in that time then metastock throwing error and closing.I came to know unlike some of the data providers few others managed to update metastock without blinking(for this we should intall metastock in signal broadcast mode instead of esignal) so that metastock updation is not interupting drawing of trendline,fibonacci or any other interaction with metastock.

One more request is if it is possible then give us option to create atleast 5 minute interval chart presently we could get only one minute interval chart (metastock can handle only upto 65000 ticks)


It would be better if you solve the above said problems in your next updation and thank you for your great work.

Query on 02/06/09

Another suggession it would be better if u provide naming for nifty future like Nifty 1 instead of Nifty_May ,Nifty_June like that so we can get continuous data of Nifty future.

Today I found one more issue in your data extraction When I view the extracted data in metastock downloader there are 9 or 10 entries for every minute data I guess this is because of your software is creating entry for every 6 seconds refresh so we are getting 9 or 10 entries for every minute I have attached the image of this issue.

I had been using TDI and then MDP for my RT data but somehow, i find chartsdata very impressive. I extract data from odin and amibroker seems to respond very smoothly.

I think blocking the clipboard makes the data transfer faster. I am willing to let go of the clipboard function during trading hours.... and if i need to copy paste something, i just stop chartdata software for a few seconds and then resume it after i am done using the clipboard.

I am sure Logan is looking into ways to make it faster and more reliable. Give him the time and space to pace his progress accordingly. Please dont demand modifications from him since u (and me ! ) are not paying for his service and hard work (yet!).

2. Are there any time limitations of your program, or is it free and without limitations?

I m using windows vista and trying to use chartsdata .. I m able to install ur software but while i run it ODIN marketwatch not opening ..its showing the name of marketwatch but when i click its not opening...

please provide some solution

Hi Logan,

First I would like to thank you for CHARTS DATA which is great and absolutely free, as I don't do intraday trading i need only for paper trading, on 27th of may first time i downloaded the Charts data on my pc according to the instruction.

but after one week i found that shwoing somthing wrong in EOD ( i am downloading from GET BHAVCOPY from HEMEN KAPADIA) as it has seperate data base, for intraday we have separate data base which was create in the starting which is in C drive,

After one week i found that for EOD was showing some wrong data, some of the candel were showing DOJI pattern the opening and closing was the same only for those stocks which was on my list of watch list in CHARTDATA, tried to find solution but not succeeded. then deleted CHARTSDATA from pc after this also the same problem was there, then by going SYMBOLE then QOUTE EDITOR for my EOD data intraday data was aslo there I deleted the intraday data from EOD one by one, then all the data for EOD was showing perfectly right.

Today I downloaded the CHARTSDATA again to avoid above mentioned problem can you please suggest me were I was wrong.
