Zerodha Part 2

Guys, trading is really becoming expensive with NSE now.....For the benefit of the fellow members, I just want to mention the difference in various trading costs compared to BSE

Transaction charge Future - BSE is Rs. 190 per crore compared to Rs. 490 in NSE

Transaction charge Option - BSE is Rs. 2500 per crore compared to Rs. 8000 in NSE

This even has a wider impact as the service tax is charged on both, brokerage as well as Transaction charge. So you have to pay multifold service tax if you trade in NSE

Looks like BSE definitely is a trader's paradise...just that volumes need to improve a little bit...I really need to get myself to learn trading with BSE...

Hope this information helps everybody...

***All the above transaction charge are assuming that we trade with Zerodha, which I do...

Zerodha, how to transfer funds in mcx a/c through backoffice, there is no mention of mcx in the drop down menu of my backoffice payin ?
as per your site online transfer is only through NEFT in your a/c , in case of commodities , ie not through backoffice ?
Use the trading platform for both NSE and MCX, it happens instantly..

Dear Zerodha,

Please tell me the exact Cut-off time for options shorting. Some people say its 3:00 Pm some say 3:10 and some still says 3:20.

Please reply
If you are trading on Zerodha Trader, it is at 3.20pm.. All MIS positions(intraday) are squared off after 3.20pm..

In NOW, the square offs happen between 3.10pm to 3.30pm.

Options shorting won't be squared off if you are holding required margins ( USE NRML while trading on ZT)..

Check this blog out if you are trading on ZT http://www.zerodha.com/Test/connect/blog/2012/11/zerodha-margin-policies

Thanks for the info.. But expecting a bit more professional approach..

1. Advise me on how to open the CP. What help will zerodha provide..?
2. What about MCX intraday trades..? Is it allowed to OCI/NRI..?
3. If answer to above question is "Yes", Please advise me with the complete formalities..?

I would like to open this ASAP. Please help
To get a CP code, you need to get in touch with a Professional clearing member. You can let us know if you wish to have ILFS as your CP, we can get them in touch with you..

MCX trading not allowed for NRI/OCI...

When using a CP, your funds will be sitting with the custodian and only the trade execution will happen with us. Clearing members might have a minimum amount criteria for custodial accounts.. There will be also additional custodial charges for the same. We could help you get the lowest custodial rates through ILFS..

Do send an email to [email protected] with your contact details and Sachin in the subject.. Will get someone from ILFS to get in touch with you..

Hi Zerodha/Fellow Traders,

I have a scrip NIFTY12NOV5600CE in the Market Watch of ZT Terminal

Now I want to modify this to NIFTY12DEC5100PE

(I don't want to remove scrip and add a new again....I want to modify the existing scrip to new one)

Is there any quick workaround ?
Both are 2 different contracts and marketwatch doesn't give you an option to modify.. You have to remove it and add the new one..

From where can I download Span Margin file for BSE?...I cant see a link to this on backoffice site...
The SPAN margin files are still not generated by our clearing member, we will start putting it up soon..

But to give you an idea, presently you can trade Sensex futures and BSE 100 futures( only liquid contracts), for both of these the margin requirement is very similar to Nifty.
Find below the margin required...

Initial Margin / Span Margin : 6.90 %

Exposure Margin : 2.93%

@hibhai, about session timeouts, it is a regulatory requirement, unfortunately not too much we can do... Apparently these are all security measures set by the regulators..
