Re: Zerodha: Freak Trade in Minifty Triggering Stop Loss

Hi linkon7,

thanx for posting this conversation.

It means really such a trade did happen.

But in that case all those who were long at that time and had placed limit stop loss orders at some level or the other must have had their stop losses taken out like it happened to me.

Such freak trades will lead to losses to all these traders which would be a big number. Isn't there any way in which NSE can control such trades coz traders stop loss orders will never be safe if freak trades like this keep happening.

One will be better with not placing any stop loss order.

Thanks Linkonji.... If this is really happened.... then one should make complaint with NSE and SEBI against this....

Linkonji ... and if it 3512 then is below LC also... then NSE should cancel all these TRADEs immediately.

Akash in that case I really support you... its really disgusting.. Zerodha also should interfere.... and raise issue with NSE and SEBI.....

Its not even 10% very big ...

Yeah!! it is a very serious issue. It reminds of the Apple (AAPL) incident last friday in NASDAQ. Apple Shares touched lower circuit within seconds.!!!

Re: Zerodha: Freak Trade in Minifty Triggering Stop Loss

A very freak incident happened today and i want to know if other traders in this forum using Zerodha faced the same thing:

Even though my trigger price was never reached, my order got executed at 12:42pm.

I have already raised this issue with Zerodha but i am posting here so that if there are others who faced this problem, we can voice it together.

- Akash.
Such a thing happened to me recently (with Zerodha). I was in a long trade and put in a SL-M order. CMP was way above my SL-M and suddenly SL was triggered and my position was closed. As per tick data of Zerodha and Sharekhan the low price for the minute when the SL-M was triggered was clearly ABOVE my SL-M.
I immediately called Zerodha and asked for a clarification and after several calls back and forth here's what they told me:

"NSE tick data does not record ALL trades. Instead NSE records trades at an interval of 3 seconds. Whatever it records at those 3 second intervals is the tick data. IF within those 3 seconds a trade happens at a FAR off value, it will trigger stops but that FAR off value is not listed in the NSE statistics for that minute."

It is scary to say the least. It's strange. It's unbelievable. However I left it at that as at this stage my time is better spent learning to trade than fixing systems beyond my comprehension.

Zerodha, Seniors will have to comment on the 3 second interval and the whole issue.

Re: Zerodha: Freak Trade in Minifty Triggering Stop Loss

Shridhar,

Thx for coming out with your problem as well.

@Zerodha,

I would like Zerodha to take this matter very seriously on behalf of their clients and put pressure on NSE to avoid executing such freak trades.

If these trades r allowed, any entity with vested interests can purposefully place such orders in order to make a huge no. of traders to lose money by hitting their stop losses.

i have discussed this matter with some experienced traders and they opine that NSE might reverse the orders tht took place due to this freak trade. Can you confirm whether this is a possibility and can we apply pressure on NSE to do so?

So moral of the story.... don't put SL when you are in front of the screen atleast..... :)
But you know, this can't be a solution. SL is one of the mandatory order that a trader needs every now and then. Coz, without SL order one spike can wash away significant amount of capital.

@ Zerodha: please speak-up on this matter.
