Akash, Sach & Linkon,

I couldn't understand whether that trade has really happened or not at sub-4000 level... Today's low in Minifty is 5238 and lower circuit is at 4709.65... So how is it possible to bid such low price? i think it's another technical error similar to the one which happened few months back in Sensex. :)

Dreamer,

the trade was shown in some charts during mkt hrs... i hear from unconfirmed sources tht the freak trade was later cancelled by NSE and removed from EOD OHLC values.

So if the freak trade was cancelled, then all the stop losses hit due to that trade shd also be cancelled.

Re: Zerodha: Freak Trade in Minifty Triggering Stop Loss

Shridhar,

i have discussed this matter with some experienced traders and they opine that NSE might reverse the orders tht took place due to this freak trade. Can you confirm whether this is a possibility and can we apply pressure on NSE to do so?
You can force NSE to do so. As I told that last Friday there was a problem with NASDAQ in Apple shares, and NASDAQ has promptly cancels all the trades that has executed at that time.

And BTW, have you received today's contract notes?

Such a thing happened to me recently (with Zerodha). I was in a long trade and put in a SL-M order. CMP was way above my SL-M and suddenly SL was triggered and my position was closed. As per tick data of Zerodha and Sharekhan the low price for the minute when the SL-M was triggered was clearly ABOVE my SL-M.
I immediately called Zerodha and asked for a clarification and after several calls back and forth here's what they told me:

"NSE tick data does not record ALL trades. Instead NSE records trades at an interval of 3 seconds. Whatever it records at those 3 second intervals is the tick data. IF within those 3 seconds a trade happens at a FAR off value, it will trigger stops but that FAR off value is not listed in the NSE statistics for that minute."

It is scary to say the least. It's strange. It's unbelievable. However I left it at that as at this stage my time is better spent learning to trade than fixing systems beyond my comprehension.

Zerodha, Seniors will have to comment on the 3 second interval and the whole issue.
This thing happened to me thrice after which I have stopped SL-M orders and try to put SL-Limit orders. Here also I have faced the problem of jumping over my SL order after triggering the same.

So moral of the story.... don't put SL when you are in front of the screen atleast..... :)D
This is no 'Good Night story' or Aesop's fable... Always keep a stop-loss in the system (Mental stop-loss doesn't work in time of need) or be prepared to be drained out completely... :)
