Zerodha Trader (NEST3) is more stable than NOW. Basically both are same in architecture i.e., the market watch, buy sell screen, preference are exactly same. difference is the option of login - in Nest3 you can directly go to the id , password directly without choosing the ISP part, connects mainly in same time. both are system memory hogging , consumes lot of memory [look in the process to ascertain].

chrts - if NEST Pulse is activated , both will have same charting. but if not NOW has a rudimentary charting facility. NOW is more of a trader work station rather than a charting cum trader work station. In Nets3 the charting is better than NOW.

not giving up the connection like NOW if the internet connection is ok. NOW has this problem - dont know why?

lastly NOW works better with TATA ISP rather than Bharti ISP.

multiple snap to quote via multiple groups. - its a charm in ODIN/Diet ODIN.
multiple charts - i never tried the charts in NOW or Nest3 traders.
NOW charts very rudimentary.some how the NEST Pulse charts is of some how advanced with lot of indicators and data of last 15 or more days.

@ Zerodha,

I have a query, ICICI Bank is giving out it's dividend payout on 31st May. So If I buy today (30/05/2012). Will I get dividend?

If I get dividend, I am planning to buy today and then sell out after getting the dividend. is it possible ?
Hey Soft looks like you are new to trading.. ..

The stock would have already factored in the dividend, if you look at stock today is at around 830 and futures at around 812... Basically what would happen is when you buy the stock, you will get the dividend if you hold the stock as on the dividend date(even if you buy it today).. But the thing is tomorrow morning the stock would loose all the dividend and trade at around the futures price...

Buying icici for dividend doesn't make sense because whatever the dividend the stock would loose so much value when it goes ex dividend..

Sachin,
Two issues I am observing..

  1. Normally at morning time around 8:15 if I try to login to Nest Trader 3.10.57.96 I get following error

User cannot login.Reason:Disconnected from Nest System" .At same time I can open NOW
  2. I am unable to see Top N Securities in Nest Trader.
  3. Also when I signout from Nest , it takes lot of time to exit.(Now exit is fast as compared to Zerodha Nest Trader use for Commodity)

Any workaround / patch / new version for the above issues ?

Thanks,
Raju
Give me sometime, will check and let you know...

Hi Alok,

Option writing margin with us varies for intraday and overnight.. .

For intraday it is 40% of the overnight margins...

For july margin required would be for overnight: 19,000, June around 17334, May would be: 15000. To do this intraday, you will require 40% of the above amounts...
Could you please provide me calculation for reaching that margin!
thanks

Margin calculation for option writing is a complex calculation.. Margins for option writing again is based on your portfolio rather than just that particular contract...

So for eg, if you have futures and you are writing call options, the margin would for writing would be lower..

Today, if you require to know this exact margin, NSE sells a software called PC-SPAN which can be bought from NSE directly...

Today most of the brokers don't give you any tool which will tell the option writing margins upfront based on the portfolio.. On NOW, there is a link called what if analysis(ALT +W), where if you mention the contract which you intend to write, it will tell you the margin requirement... Today with us, it will tell you 40% of the margin if written intraday (before 3pm on NOW) and entire margin after 3pm...

So presently what is available to you is the what if analysis which will tell you option writing margins.. That said, we are developing a tool which will be given on Zerodha Trader which will show you margin requirements based on your portfolio rather than just the contract...

Cheers..

1. We were running the BOD process( Beginning of day) between 8am to 8.30am and hence you would not have been able to login.. This has been now rescheduled t0 6.30 am, from tomorrow you will not have this issue..

2. TOP N securities not available for commodities, only for equities..

3. We haven't faced any issue about ZTrader taking long to exit, but we are double checking the same...

Hi sachin,
I am able to see only current month May contract and none of other months contracts like June, july in my Snap quote/Buy/Sell order windows in my NOW terminal. What is wrong here?? I can't take any new positions ?
