Can we modify an MIS buy/sell order to NRML order before 2.55 PM, subject to availability of margin, if we want to carry it overnight.
yes, you can. press f8, then choose position, click 'position conversion', choose 'NRML' and click convert.

That means there is a possibility of old stop loss execution while I'm editing/modifying.

Also if the volatility is high then old and new stop loss both can be executed.

the reason why I asked is I was planning to make a trailing stop loss order manually ....but it seems its risky.
yeah there is possibility of execution for any order while modification.

no both can't execute, b/c once order fully executed while modification, system will not accept modification.

you can put manual TSL, but its difficult and stressful to follow if target change is small.

Ummm... today, all AMO's were sent to the exchange at 09:14:44 or so; naturally, they were all rejected with 16000: The trading system is not available for trading :(

vikrit is right. During the modification of your TSL, if price touches your previous TSL it will get executed. If you try to modify the order it will show a rejection. This happens to me many times, even today when I was trying to modify the TSL for my 5300CE.

Can't it be done online? Such as we do fund transfers from ours bank. Is there any way to transfer Shares online?
ILFS has an option called e-kool, an electronic interface for your demat account...You can enable this if required, we can get the ILFS guys to call you up..

Once the e-kool, is setup you can online transfer shares from your demat to another demat, similar to a bank account..

An important thing required to do this is your digital signature.. Digital signature can be obtained from various companies, you can google for it.. Should cost you around 1500 to 2500 based on where you get it..

Zerodha,

I want to know the Margin needed for carrying.......for.......

1.Short 5200CE & Short 5200PE.
2.Short 5200CE & Buy 5300CE.

If I trade this separately, how will it get clubbed at EOD.

I hv never Shorted Option. Hence very apprehensive. :)
The general logic behind margin required for shorting options or trading futures is:

Margin varies based on your portfolio.. So margin required to short your 3 positions would be based on all the 4 positions.. As I had mentioned earlier, no one gives you a tool today which can tell you before hand how much is the margin required.. We will have it for you soon..

But to give you an idea, for overnight,

5200 call and 5200 put shorting, will each require around 22k and 23 k respectively.. Your buy 5200 call , significantly reduces the risk of your short 5200 call(on one side) and short 5200 put reduces the risk of short 5200 call by just a bit..

So to give you an idea, if you were taking 1 lot in all the above 4 contracts..

You would require around 40k to setup the first(20+20) and around 22k to setup the second.. All ball park numbers, for me to know how much exactly, I would have to take a position first.. :)

There are 2 bits to your question..

if you have placed an order.. Go to order book and click modify and then you can modify it..

If you have already bought it as MIS, go to trade book and click on the trade you want to modify, click position conversion and modify..
