Hey Trader,

I have put this once already.. The reason hdfc/axis is free on NOW is because, as of now NOW is not charging anything for this.. They could start charging, and then we would have to pass back the charge to our client...

The Rs 9 is charged because it costs us Rs 9 for every fund transfer done by our client... This is our payment gateway costs..

Why we can't take it on our head??

Put yourself in our shoes and tell me how we can?...

1. There are around 2000 of our clients who do just delivery based trades.. 1 trade a month to 1 trade a quarter..

2. 60% of these guys do purchase of less than Rs 5000...

3. If you transfer 5000 and buy stocks for delivery, you would pay a brokerage of Rs 5... But because u transferred funds using the payment gateway, my payment gateway cost is Rs 9.. So I am making a net loss of Rs 4...

4. There are so many clients who transfer funds and never trade... My loss because of this is Rs 9...

5. So now you tell me, does it makes sense to do business for a loss? We don't want to bring in differential pricing, that is charge people differently..

It is like you are running a shopping mall and you are paying people to enter the mall hoping that they will end up shopping... would you???

So tell me what would you do if you were running the business???
Why are people making so much fuss about Rs9/- per transfer.... If they don't want to incur this, then they have an option of depositing a cheque in Zerodha's favour at any of the branches of HDFC Bank across India..... Of course, this would take about 2-3 days to get credited... But they would save those 9 bucks.....

Another option would be to open a Bank a/c which allows free NEFT Transfers.... IDBI and Bank Of India do provide them for free (Please confirm at your end too)....

Guys, this is not a sarcastic remark.... It would make sense to a lot of people who are questioning about charges on transfer....

I agree with you. We need to understand how much we save by low brokerage by Zerodha and comparing to paying Rs.9/- for fund transfer. Having said that I have never paid Rs.9/- for my transfers because I transfer the fund from my ICICI account to Zerodha through NEFT, by mentioning by client id in Remark/Comment field. But, ICICI charges Rs.6/- for NEFT transfers. It's actually free for most of the other banks (like Citibank). The amount is getting credited to Zerodha within 4 to 6 hours. I usually allow 24 hours to check if the amount is indeed credited. It has always been. For me this is not a problem at all as I transfer the amount only monthly once.
