Yesterday (Friday 31st) also there was disconnection between 1:30pm and 2:30pm

Overall happy with RK Global service.
can you tell me if this disconnection is just feed disconnection or total outage as in not able to do anything like place trades, close positions.
Does the web interface work in such cases?
If you have odin do get web interface access as well?
how often do you see this? and how do you deal with it? (if you have open position)

It was total outage. Couldn't place any order. When I placed order it is stuck in queue and I never got confirmation from exchange. After the problem was fixed I could place order again. Approx duration of failure was 1hr.

For intraday if you don't rely on pending orders then this can be a problem. Most of my trading is with pending orders

This is the second instance when I have faced a problem with placing orders in the last 9 months with RK.

When I had signed up I was told I could not access both web and ODIN. They have a limitation in the system. I had to choose one of these.

If ODIN fails, then you have call and place order. Given that they don't have a great call center this might create problems.

EDIT: From what I understood about the problem, have parallel web access at the time would not have helped because their bridge to the exchange failed. They had a restart their system.

what you mean by pending orders? limit orders? why is it not a problem if you don't rely on it? can you substantiate please?

As soon as I take a position I set a stop loss order. In my case both entry and exit orders are set at the same time. Even if the system goes down I am protected because my stop loss is set. At worst I might miss moving my stop loss if market moves in my favor. Hence not a big deal for me.

stop loss order == limit order == pending order

Of course if the market moves sharply and for some reason my stop loss order is not executed AND if the system is down at that time, I might end up losing money. But chances of all this happening together is very low.

If I see too many of these failures going forward will move to another broker. As of now a happy customer of RK Global.

if the link to the exchange is broken then your pending order may not be executed right?

Once the order is placed (and assuming all systems are ok) your order will go to the exchange. Once it is received and all is well, exchange will provide an order id back to us. It is one of the columns in order book.

Thereafter, it remains with the exchange until it is executed or it is cancelled.

I have not tried their web client so can't comment on it. BUT from my experience I will not recommend web client for intraday trading. It doesn't matter which broker you use, web client will eventually cause a problem when the load is too high. I have faced this with all brokers I have tried - ICICIDirect, Geojit, ILFS & Kotaksecurities

Order execution on ODIN Diet is fast (RK Global). Another one I liked is Geojit's platinum platform. It is good except for the brokerage which is too high compared to RK.

If your meaning of intraday is 1-2 trades a day wherein your entries/exits are predefined, then you can consider web client.
